After starting the process, and having made enough small batches that our team knows what they are doing, we push into full production. We make 100 cases at a time in a single color so we can build the correct inventory.
Step by step they go together. At one point in the process we stop set them aside and leave the last step for another time. This helps us have some extra time to work on the other cases we have going. It, also, allows us to quickly be able to restock the item. We haven't always done this and we still don't do it with all of the cases, but we hope to be there soon. Fodderstack XL's are easy to get to this point.
When Brad and I were designing the cases for Kickstarter we made sure that we had one tool to make our items better than the rest, a bar tacker. This little piece of magic adds the promise of long time use. Our Fodderstack XL is no different. With 100 cases comes 100 bar tacks. The Fodderstack is the easiest case for us to do this to, with only one bar tack per case. After the bar tack on the Fodderstacks we are ready to either do the final step or set aside for future inventory.
In our dream world we would be able to complete all of the cases in one day and have everything ready for inventory right this minute. We aren't able to do that...yet. Our team is always striving to build more cases and to keep you all happy. While we still have stretches of time when we are out of stock of different cases, we hope that this series sheds some light on why it takes us the time it does to complete each case. Quality has been our number one spirit animal since day one and I would rather get 1000 emails asking when we will have a case in than get 1 complaining about a malfunctioning case.
